Description

We’ve got our annual summer trip coming up after exams where we head out for 2 weeks of paddling, this year I am hoping to head out to Austria. The provisional dates are 10th June - 26th June (subject to change but will definitely be June). We will spend 2 days travelling each way (4 total), staying at a hotel/hostel most likely in France to give the drivers a rest.

I am doing an interest form so I can plan the transport and to see the ability distribution of people looking to attend. As this is an interest form, there are no conditions that need to be met to fill this in.

What to expect?

Kayaking of course! There will also be some days where we might just want to chill and do something else. Alternative activities might include a hike, or a water park (area 47). The weather is usually quite nice though and there are lovely lakes to go swimming in.

The alpine rivers are different to UK rivers, they are faster, more continuous and bouncier with limited eddies. They tend to have less defined “features” and are often long wave trains with waves of varying size. The water is mostly fed by snow melt higher up in the mountains which often gives us more consistent river levels than when we rely on rain.

I do not have an exact cost yet but the alps trip to Austria 2 years ago cost £650 so use this for an estimate. The difference to last year is that we probably won't be camping, it'll most likely be a bunkhouse. Here is the one we stayed at 2 years ago.
